280 Units 5.4m Electric City Mobility Buses 'Metro Buses' Launch in Chengdu

On Oct 30, 2025, Chengdu launched new bus routes and vehicles under its "Eight Warm Services" campaign.This initiative strengthens the link between transit and public needs, promoting inclusive and happy commuting for all.

The 280 units new "Metro Buses" come in three sizes: 8.5m, 6.5m, and 5.4m. The two smaller models are for community shuttles, featuring a "Compact Size, Ample Capacity" design to link neighborhoods with existing bus and subway lines, enhancing the local transit network. The 8.5m electric city bus, with a passenger capacity rivaling a standard 10m ev bus, will be deployed on peak-hour express and main routes to ease commutes.

The 5.4m mobility city bus offer key upgrades over conventional models:

Technology & Space: Axial flux motors and wheel-side drive enable a spacious, flat-floor cabin with low-entry steps for superior comfort.

Age-Friendly Design: Recognized as a leader in senior-friendly public transport.

Community Favorite (5.4m mini bus): Known as "The Purple Fairy," it has 9 seats and 2 sqm of standing room. Its cute design and eye-catching color make it an instant photo spot.

The 6.5 m "Metro Bus" offers key advantages over comparable models:

Spacious & Flexible: Gains 30-40 cm in length, enabling an extra row of seats to provide seating availability off-peak and higher passenger     capacity during peaks.

Accessible & Safe: Boasts a completely flat floor, low entry and anti-pinch doors with sensors for safer and easier boarding for the elderly and      children.

 Unobstructed & Comfortable: Features large windows and ceiling-mounted handrails for clear movement of strollers and luggage, plus leather          seats and USB charging ports for passenger comfort.
